MAN DROWNS IN ‘DRY’ DRAIN
AN ELDERLY man is believed to have drowned in less than four inches of water in a concrete drain in Presyal Village on Wednesday. Police believe Kenderick Bickram, 66, of Taitt Madoo Trace, was drunk when he fell into a drain at the intersection of Presyal Road and Crown Presyal Trace, on Wednesday. A bottle of Bay Rum was discovered by police next to his body which led police to believe that Bickram had consumed some of the contents of the bottle around noon. A police report stated that Bickram was last seen by relatives sitting on a concrete bridge at the intersection.
Police believe Bickram lost his balance and fell head first into the drain. A passerby, who saw him struggling to ease his body out of the drain, went to his assistance. But the man told police that Bickram was too heavy to be lifted out of the drain. Half an hour later, Bickram’s lifeless body was discovered. A post mortem was performed on the body at the San Fernando General Hospital’s mortuary.
