THE EDITOR: I wish to join in the celebration of our one day triumph in Barbados. It was indeed a thrilling match as the local heroes were facing defeat at 83-6. Sensible batting by Jan and man-of-the match Kelly upset the Guyanese plans. We won all the individual awards much to the chagrin of veteran Bajan commentator, Tony Cozier. This team was bereft of their West Indian ‘‘stars’’ in the names of Lara, Dillon, Bravo, Rampaul and Mohammed. Congrats to manager Omar Khan, coach David Williams and last but not least captain Daren Ganga whose inspired leadership galvanised ‘‘the never say die attitude.’’ It is hoped that we carry this momentum in the four-day format.
