NE Stars prepare to celebrate
NORTH EAST Stars can conclude their victorious campaign in the 2004 T&T Pro League if they can gain at least a point against Starworld Strikers today. Today’s final round of matches will be staged from 5 pm with North East leaving their camp in Sangre Grande to celebrate their first ever league triumph with bottles of champagne at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Even if they lose to Starworld, the Sangre Grande-based unit can walk home with the trophy if W Connection fail to capture full points against dethroned champs CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.
Connection are three points behind North East, and nothing less than a victory will do for the Savonetta lads today. During the course of the season, Defence Force have blended a number of new players such as Odelle Armstrong, Jerwyn Balthazar, Addison Belfon, Devon Jorsling and Christon Baptiste with seasoned campaigners Kelshall Alexander, Selwyn George, Anton Pierre, Kurt Williams and Kwesi Smith. They will end their season with a match-up against a gritty Arima/Morvant Fire outfit at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima.
