MINISTER in the Ministry of Finance Christine Sahadeo sees the solution to this country’s crime problem in the non-violence preached by Mahatma Gandhi. She also said the society would benefit from adopting the Hindu family lifestyle. Sahadeo, who represented Prime Minister Patrick Mann-ing at Divali Nagar on Saturday night, said the Hindu family structure was well fortified and, in their tradition of looking after one another in good and bad times was “a solid foundation for a progressive nation.” In reference to the Nagar’s theme, “Hindu Traditions,” Sahadeo said that long ago arranged marriages worked well, but now that young Hindus are being educated, “parents need to guide and support them to make the right choices to save the world from serious crisis situations.”

“If we adhere to these Hindu traditions we will have a better society,  a better country, a better nation and a better world all over,” she said
According to the minister, many problems “emerge be-cause of single parenting.” “If we have marriages that are well orchestrated and arranged, which many do not believe in right now, the society will be better off for it.” She said that a Hindu wedding took a long time to complete but “created the right mood because they take time to repeat their vows and set them in the correct  path for life.” She said that Lord Rama in Hindu tradition epitomised man in all humility but he was strong in values and his life was an excellent example for the world to follow. If during the season of Divali this message could get across, Sahadeo said, “we will all benefit from the ideals and values that he  propagated.”
