Lack of goodwill

THE EDITOR: In reference to the article “Venezuelans Target Young Abu Bakr,” of November 9, 2004, signed by Joel Bailey, on the TT-Venezuela friendly match of the Under-17 and Under-20 National Football teams, I would like to express my surprise for the unpleasant remarks depicting the performance of the Venezuelan young football players. But, even more distasteful was the linkage between the behaviour in the playing field and the allusion to issues unrelated to sports activities.

We highly commend the initiative of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation to promote this type of exchanges that undoubtedly reflect the long standing history of interaction between the peoples of Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela, and which contribute to a greater integration between our peoples.
