‘Green Machine’ cruise into Intercol ‘semis

PRESENTATION College Chaguanas felt the wrath of the “Green Machine” St Augustine yesterday as the RBTT National Intercol competition began. The Green Machine, who have captured the British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) East Zone and “Big 5” titles, as well as the Intercol East Zone crown, inflicted a 4-0 whipping on the Central lads at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima to pro-gress to the semi-final round.

National Under-20 stri-ker Shane Calderon open-ed the scoring in the 36th minute, with John Stewart doubling his team’s advantage in the 43rd. A header from Aaron Peters made it 3-0 in the 65th minute while Elton John converted an 84th minute freekick to complete the rout for the Green Machine. Quarter-final action continues from 3 pm tomorrow with a double-header at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Mara-bella. Vessigny square off against Scarborough while Fyzabad meet the “Westmoorings Tigers” St Anthony’s two hours later.
