North East Under-20s edge Starworld 5-4

NORTH EAST Stars earned a tense 5-4 triumph over Starworld Strikers at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella in Round 23 of the T&T Pro League’s Under-20 Division contested recently. For Starworld, Jamal Ayres had the distinction of netting a hat-trick, in the 32nd, 76th and 90th minutes, while Akim Marshall added one in the 61st. But North East’s scoring was more balanced, with Troy Augustus netting twice in the 54th and 60th, with one apiece from Perry Ferreira (44th), Dexter Thornhill (62nd) and Kitwana Abosi (76th).


League leaders CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh strolled past Tobago United 4-2 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo while Arima/Morvant Fire rallied to defeat Defence Force 2-1 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima. Sabir Guerra got the winner for the Fire lads in second half stoppage time, after Kern Noel had scored the equaliser in the 67th. Junior Gittens put the Army-Coast Guard combination ahead in the 65th but the lead only lasted two minutes.
