Bush re-election creates doomsday scenario
THE EDITOR: My good friend whom I nicknamed the “Gloat Goat” phoned me both to gloat and enquire why I had not called him to congratulate him on the Bush victory and also commented that he had not seen any of my letters in the dailies lately. His further question was “Are you too traumatised to write?” Of course I was traumatised.
For the majority of Amer-icans to elect as president an intellectually comatose cowboy must tell me and the rest of the world something about the collective stupidity of those Bible belt hypocrites who decided that Bush and his neo-con conspirators should continue to bully and terrorise the rest of the world for another four years. At this moment these right-wing hypocrites are condoning and believe that it is morally right for American soldiers to be killing dozens of innocent Iraqi citizens and destroying Muslim places of worship in Fallujah City in Iraq. I sympathise with those Americans who voted against George W. On the morning of November 4 after Senator Kerry had conceded defeat his supporters must have felt as depressed as the non-Nazis who woke up to the fact that Adolf Hitler had been returned to power in Nazi Germany.
I continue to gauge world opinion through onlinenewspapers.com and I am satisfied that America and Israel remain the two most despised nations in the world. All sympathy the rest of the world had for the United States after “9/11” has now evaporated. The Bush administration reminds Americans that another “9/11” will occur. I doubt that many people will react the same way they did when the first “9/11” occurred. With the eventual appointment of one or more neo-con supreme court justices to that nation’s highest court, decisions like Roe v Wade and Brown v the Board of Eduction are likely to be reversed or rendered impotent. Americans will be asking “What has happened to our civil/constitutional rights?” A lot of Americans are considering seeking sanctuary in Canada.
I notice that the Canadian government has stated that potential immigrants from the USA will have to stand in line like any other potential immigrant from other parts of the world. With the election of George W, Americans have created a doomsday scenario. I hope that they are prepared for that event and would accept the consequences without squealing like drowning rats or looking for sympathy from the rest of the world. For those dumb Trinidadians who are applauding the Bush election my sincere hope is that they get their green cards or American visas and be present in that country when the “eruption” occurs.
