Soca Warriors hold two training sessions

NATIONAL coach Bertille St Clair put his Soca Warriors through two separate training sessions yesterday, as they prepare for tomorrow’s CONCACAF World Cup qualifier against St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Hasely Crqwford Stadium. But despite the absence of Glasgow Rangers defender Marvin “Dog” Andrews and Anthony Rougier, St Clair said he was able to have a good enough workout with his team. Wrexham striker Hector Sam and late call-up Scott Sealy were seen in serious drills as they prepare to take up the slack left by injury to ace striker Stern John.

Also seen in action yesterday were Jerren Nixon, the leading goalscorer in this year’s T&T Pro League and Errol McFarlane jr who have found the nets for Trinidad and Tobago in previous matches. St Clair said: “Everytime you go into a game you go to win.  We are not going for a walk in the park and actually they (St Vincent) said they are coming to give us some ‘Vincy Heat,’ so we must be prepared to cool them down.” He admitted his team will miss Stern John, but pointed out his absence will give him and his staff a chance to see someone else. St Clair said, guys like Avery John and Sealy are back in the team and get another chance. He said, “I’ve always said Sealy is going to be a good one.  He likes to work hard and he runs well off the ball.” The coach will conduct one more training session today.
