Strike Squad remind of glory days

MEMBERS OF the 1989 Strike Squad dusted off the cobwebs and inflicted a 3-2 beating on Curepe Progressive in an exhibition match in the Curepe Football League. Strike Squad captain Clayton “JB” Morris, fellow defender “Marvellous” Marvin Faustin and Larry Joseph were all on target at the Knowles Street Recreation Ground. The Peters brothers, Stephen and Anthony, scored for the hosts. The Strike Squad-Progressive clash was the feature encounter on the day’s proceedings, which also saw a round-robin Under-10 tournament.

The Under-10 contest was a hard-fought affair, with W Connection, Curepe Ball Strikers and Arima Ball Masters all finishing top of the table. They were all tied with six points each, including one victory, three drawn results and equal amount of goals scored and conceded (one apiece). To emphasise how close the competition was, Trendsetter Hawks, Cap Off FC and New Generation Youthopia drew all five of their matches. The winner of the Under-10s will be determined on November 28 when the top three (Connection, Strikers and Ball Masters) meet in a round-robin phase at the Knowles Street venue.
