Do we still have two seasons in TT?

THE EDITOR: Please allow me some space in your papers to tell of my dilemma and maybe one of your good readers might give me some sound advice. I am a Trinidadian who has lived in the United Kingdom for the past 44 years and have now relocated to Tobago. While living in the UK I looked forward to and enjoyed the four seasons every year, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Before moving back to Tobago I gave away all of my winter clothing knowing that I was moving to the tropics. What confuses me now is when I am talking to some of our learned subjects and they want to relate to events that have happened or are going to happen in TT, they do so by referring to one of the four seasons as a reference of time. eg “In the summer of 1965” or “In the fall” or “In the spring of” or “When the winter comes”.

My problem is, I was always under the impression that we have two seasons in Trinidad and Tobago. Dry and Rainy. Now, seeing that I have given away all of my winter clothing and I am now reading and hearing of the four different seasons which we are due to encounter in this tropical island, what do I do? Take a hurried trip back to the UK and reclaim all of my winter clothes, and on my return, employ some builder to add a chimney and fireplace to my home, then go and sit on some sunny beach with winter coat in hand and wait for the anticipated snow storms so that I could build a snow man?!! Please, will somebody advise me, as I am totally confused.
