Cordner, James crowned TT champs
ADRIAN Cordner and Sererina James walked away with the titles of Mr and Mrs Trinidad and Tobago respectively at the 2004 National Senior Body-building Championships. The event ended in the wee hours of Sunday morning, with Cordner pulling off the upset over the consistent Damien George while James added the senior trophy to the junior crown that she captured earlier this year. “After a lot of hard work and application I’ve finally done it,” said Cordner. James said the secrets of her latest success were “hard work and dedication.”
Cordner had earlier triumphed in the men’s heavyweight division, ahead of Lee Beatrice and Richard Jakie while James got the better of crowd favourite Camille Abdul-Goberdhan, the slimly-built Lesley Ann Roy and the muscular Patricia Modeste. George was an easy winner in the men’s middleweight category, with Clive Bengochea second, Dexter “Crab” Littrean third and Clinton Sammy fourth, while Anslem Julien took the light-heavyweight trophy, followed by Richard Noel, Jawan Pantin and Alan Steeple. The veteran Julien earned two titles on the night, as he prevailed in the masters division, with Bengochea and Cyprian Wallen trailing; Whitney Navarro claimed the lightweight section, followed by Robert Walcott and Wallen, while Karen George took care of Andrea Mohess for the body-fitness trophy.
