Hi-tech to fight crime

THE EDITOR: “Semen was also found in the vagina.” I hesitate to accuse the authorities of incompetence. But it is a simple and standard procedure to compare the genetic profile of the semen with the man’s genetic profile. If they match, you have a rapist. If they do not match, the accused is exonerated. The key question is was this procedure done? If not, why not? In gun murders, all bullets and guns are subjected to ballistic tests. Highly developed forensic ballistic tests have been developed to link criminals with guns and guns with people. These tests are computerised, and enable investigators to determine if a gun has been used in several murders. This is an easy way to apprehend multiple murderers. Time to go hi-tech in the war against crime, TT.
