Georgia stay in top rung
GEORGIA FC kept their spot in the Warner’s Group of Companies-sponsored Tobago Football Association Premier League when they held on for a 2-1 victory over Hope Village Milan in the play-offs as the curtain came down this season’s action. Damian Manning lifted Georgian hopes when he netted after 32 minutes in Sunday’s match at the Dwight Yorke Stadium Training Ground, Bacolet, Tobago. But soon after the re-start, Garvin Richards knotted up the scoreline and it was match on.
Both teams battled desperately for the winner which came the way aof Georgia in the 64th minute when Robbie Thomas turned hero. Now the lads from Hope Village will be demoted to conference play, while Roxborough Lakers will make a return to the Premier League next season. Roxborough narrowly finished top of the Big Six play-offs on goal-difference, after they and Sea Level Goal City were deadlocked on 10 points each from their five matches. They edged Goal City by one goal, scoring 12 with six against, while Goal City netted 15 with 10 against.
