Flying Millie looks good at Santa Rosa

THERE was a rare sight at gallops at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday morning when six horses were seen working out together. Really Quiet, Heavensent, Condoleeza, Alfie Meh Boy, Joint Account and Kylie Wylie galloped together over 200 metres from the boxes, which they completed in 28.86 seconds. But Jamaican-bred Flying Millie showed she will not be easily beaten in the St Vincent RFU 1100 metres sprint for two-year-olds, third race on the nine-race Carib Rugby/Racing Friday Lime on Friday afternoon. This filly, second in her only start to date, looked exceptionally well in her 400 metres gallop with Lord Arazi from the boxes, timed in 23.51 seconds best clocking for the trip on the morning.

Unraced Myatic River who holds the same engagement, went over the 400 metres trip in 24.56 seconds, while Dinner Silence who is not engaged for the “Lime,” was clocked in 23.94 seconds. Spin N’ Squeeze, returning after a lay-off, was best over 600 metres in 38.29 seconds.  This one holds the engagement in the Bruc of Guadeloupe race over 1100 metres. And V For Victory continued to impress as he sharpened up for the Atlantis RFC 1200 metres sprint, final event of the day. The five-year-old looked quite sharp in a handy 600 metres spin completed in 39.88 seconds. Alert The Ship who is sure to start favourite for the Aeseulapians RFC turf race over 1700 metres, was seen out pacing over 1000 metres yesterday, recording a time of 1:10.84 seconds. Also out pacing yesterday morning was Sugar Mike, who looked very fit in his spin over 1200 metres in 1:29.97 seconds.
