Kenisha is a favourite in Miss World
EAGER FANS of Trinidad and Tobago’s delegate, Kenisha Thom, can tune into TTT today at 9 am and view the Miss World Beauty Pageant competition being held in Sanya, China. The 21-year-old Tobago beauty is tipped as one of the favourites to win the contest today as she has already attained a place in the finals for her third place wins in the Miss World Top Model Sports, Talent Show Competition and Beach Beauty contest. She also placed third in the bookmakers’ bets. Thom went through a depressing moment on November 12, when she learnt of the deadly landslides which claimed the lives of two people from Delaford in Tobago. However, she quickly recovered and regained the strength to make TT proud.
Local franchise holder Peter Elias told Newsday he was confident that Kenisha could “pull it off” in today’s pageant. “My hopes are high,” Elias said yesterday. “I spoke to Kenisha and she knows the country is behind her. She said she could feel the love and will try her absolute best,” said Elias. It is said the winner of the pageant this year would be decided by the highest number of internet votes counted before, or during the telecast. Elias said he woke up the Tobago-born beauty, but she could not confirm whether the method of “global voting” for the delegates was retained. Should Thom win today, she will follow in the path of two Miss Universe title-holders — Janelle Penny Commissiong-Chow and Wendy Fitzwilliam — and one Miss World — Giselle Laronde — from this country.
