Police investigate ‘suspicious’ kidnapping
Police are investigating the kidnapping of an Arima man. According to police reports, around 11pm on Friday, businessman Anton Richardson, 40, alias “Doctor” was liming a short distance from his Wattley Circular Road, Mt Pleasant, Arima home when a car pulled up and two armed men ordered him into the vehicle before driving off. Up to press time neither his family nor the Arima police had received any news of his whereabouts or a ransom demand. Police sources told Sunday Newsday they do not believe the kidnapping was “ordinary.”
In an unrelated matter police are awaiting the autopsy results on a mentally unstable woman who was picked up on Beckles Street, Arima on Friday morning and died sometime later at the Eric Williams Medical Complex. According to reports, around 9 am after she became “erratic and crazy,” the woman who is well known to the police, was taken to the Arima District Medical facility and later transferred to the Mt Hope Medical Complex by the Emergency Health Services where she later died.
