Two left homeless after Barrackpore fire

Two persons were left homeless after a late night fire engulfed their home. The three bedroom wooden house, owned by Ian Ali which had an estimated value of $60,000, was completely destroyed. Russel Sankar Partap 38, and his common-law wife Sybil Dowlah, 32, were tenants of the house.


Reports state at about 10.45pm Friday, Princes Town fire officers responded to a call at Cumuto Road, Barrackpore. The house was well ablaze when fire officials arrived. Investigators revealed that one of the occupants reported seeing a spark from the electrical panel box, shortly before the fire started. No one was injured in the fire. The Barrackpore Police is continuing investigations.
