Dinner Silence makes some noise

DINNER SILENCE will not be easily beaten in that Imported Juvenile Sprint at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Saturday. The two-year-old Formal Dinner/Silent White offspring seemed to be enjoying the sloppy conditions at Santa Rosa yesterday morning, showing a clean pair of heels in a 600 metres workout timed in 36.42 seconds. And trainer Glenn Mendez seems to have Russell Ramsammy’s colt trained to the minute for the 1200 metres race come Saturday. Mendez could well saddle a one-two in this race as he will also send out Bold As Brass who created quite a stir when winning the Royal Extra Stout 1300 metres race for maidens on Carib Brewery Day by an astounding seven and three-quarter lengths. Another showing some fire on the gallops yesterday morning was Honor Bound who had a handy run over 1000 metres in 1:06.77 seconds. Meanwhile, 15 two-year-olds are set to challenge “star girl” Arts And Lovers in the Guardian Life St Ann’s Stakes over 1350 metres on December 27.

This race looks like a duel between Arts And Lovers, Luann’s Passion, Flying Millie and Footwork who showed good speed in her debut start at the Carib Rugby/Racing Lime on Friday last. When final subscriptions of $300 for the St Ann’s were paid on Monday, connections left in three un-raced fillies - Banker Bid, Miss Ricky P and Settled Account, while a penalty was paid for Eye Candy at the second stage.
