Heartbroken teen attempts suicide

AFTER being told by his female friend that he was too young for her, a heartbroken 19-year-old youth ingested a poisonous substance in an apparent suicide bid. The teen, who is now warded in stable condition at San Fernando General Hospital, may face a charge of attempted suicide if he recovers. According to police reports, the teen was speaking with his 17-year-old girlfriend on the telephone around 11 pm on Monday, when she told him that he was too young for her and that they should end the relationship. After the conversation, the boy drank a quantity of black household disinfectant and told his shocked parents what he had done. The youth was taken to the Couva District Hospital.
