SWEET PEPPER, TOMATO PRICES RISE AGAIN

The latest figures from the National Marketing and Dev-elopment Corporation (Namdevco), indicate that consumers will see a price hike in certain products the next time they visit the market. Prices set according to the  daily wholesale prices of agricultural commodities at the Northern Wholesale Market, Macoya, indicate that there is a noticeable price hike in tomatoes and sweet peppers. The price list indicates that each kilogramme of large tomatoes would cost a minimum of $24.26 and a maximum of $26.46, or $12 a pound. For large sweet peppers, there is a minimum cost of $12.13 and a maximum of $13.23 a kilo.


For customers who may opt for small tomatoes, the price hike may still be a bit steep the minimum price per kilogramme stands at $15.43 or $8 a pound. The price of pigeon peas has been set at $13.23 per kilogramme, while sorrel is set at a minimum of $4.96 per kilogramme and a maximum of $5.51. While hot peppers were at a significantly high price a few months ago, the minimum price per 100 is now set at $15 and maximum at $25. While limes are out of stock, lemons have been priced at a minimum of $45 per hundred.
