PNM presents THA candidates Sunday

THE RULING People’s National Movement (PNM) will present its candidates for the Tobago House Assembly (THA) elections at a mass rally in Signal Hill on Sunday. This was announced by THA Chief Secretary Orville London earlier this week. London said the party would complete screening its candidates for the January 17 polls tomorrow and then present them to the public at a mass rally at the Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive School the following day. The THA Chief Secretary said the PNM has two other public rallies scheduled at the Scarborough Market Car Park and the Roxborough Market Car Park on January 2 and 9.

London said the PNM’s mobilisation exercise is in full swing in all electoral districts and “we are fairly well prepared” for the January 17 elections. Government officials could not say whether Prime Minister Patrick Manning would be attending Sunday’s rally, but did not rule out the possibility of his presence for those scheduled in January. Manning is due to return home from Miami today. London said he was not too concerned about whether the UNC, NAR and DAC would join forces against the PNM in the upcoming elections. “I operate as if the Opposition is aligned and then I just take from that. So anything else that happens is really in my favour,” he stated.
