Take the blinkers off

THE EDITOR: Please allow me to respond to a letter in Newsday (7-12-2004 ) by a Lucy Dupres. Ms Dupres states that since Mr Panday’s recent proclaimation that young Indian males were ready to shed their blood , four were killed by police and three are now on a murder charge. Maybe Ms Dupres can gaze into her crystal ball and tell us during that same time frame since Mr Panday’s cry, how many African youths have been arrested on all types of criminal charges ranging from minor to major, and also how many African youths have been murdered by their own kind.

I don’t want to defend criminal actions and lawlessness but perhaps if Ms Dupres can take the blinkers of her eyes and think clearly she may connect the dots. All seven youths are from Central, and Central means Caroni and the closing of Caroni with thousands on the breadline with families to feed and no hope in sight with desperation setting in. Over to you Ms Dupres.
