Plenty? Plenty flood, garbage, suffering
THE EDITOR: This letter is intended as an invitation to the two major political parties in Trinidad and Tobago. The UNC (Undisciplined Non-Essential Characters) and the PNM (Pathetic Non-productive Majority). I am inviting each and every individual representative or minister (elected or appointed) to come to the University of Woodford Square and face the people, to inform them as to exactly what he or she has done, during their term of office, to enhance the quality of life in this country. Let them tell exactly how they have helped to alleviate the problems, the suffering of the needy of their constituents.
Also, while they are at it, each individual must confess as to just how much their personal holdings have increased since being in office. Do not forget to include any offshore accounts. This invitation is prompted by the deplorable state of conditions in this country. In this so-called land of plenty. Plenty of what? Pray tell. Let us take our capital city for example. Port-of- Spain has to be the sorriest capital city in the Caribbean. It is a quagmire of filth and garbage and human derelicts. At times it is a lake, which the aforementioned float on. For pedestrians it’s an obstacle course. For motorists it’s a constant nightmare and an opportunity to practise their foul language.
For pickpockets, bandits and muggers it is heaven-sent, easy pickings, manna from heaven. For the Mayor of the city, it is apparently a matter of complete indifference. Talk about a free ride! And all the festive lights and holiday decorations only serve to highlight the squalor. I can go on and on concerning the entire country. But why bother? The majority of people just so long as they can have a Jouvert morning at least once a month. They just love mud. So, on second thought, you politicians, just disregard my invitation and go about your business of no business as usual. Enjoy your teacup fights. I have you to a higher power.
