Carib breaks bottling record

Carib Brewery has made history by brewing and bottling a record breaking 1,050,000 cases of products during the month of November. Speaking at Carib Brewery in Champs Fleurs yesterday, Carib’s CEO Andrew Sabga said only once in the history of Carib did they produce an excess of one million cases, which was in October 2001. “Production was 15 percent higher than it was last year, and it is expected that this volume of production will be sustained into the year 2005 on a monthly basis,” said Sabga. Carib’s major improvement has been linked to the efficiencies of the brewing and bottling departments, despite being down for two months of industrial action.

“We are working feverishly with staff to ensure that what has happened in the past is behind us,” said Sabga. Plans regarding Carib Brewery’s take over of Guyanese brewery, Bank’s Beer, was denied by Sabga. “As far as I am aware Carib Brewery has not and does not intend to make any purchase of shares in Guyana,” said Sabga. Sabga said Carib enjoyed a majority market share in Guyana, with Carib beer being the largest import in Guyana. However, plans are also being made to increase exports to the US, Canada and Europe.
