Thanks, Ward 11

THE EDITOR: I would appreciate very much if you could publish this letter with respect to the excellent care and treatment I received at the San Fernando General Hospital. You would normally hear or read about the bad treatment. For this reason, I would really like you to print this letter. As a recent patient of Ward 11 at the San Fernando General Hospital, I say thanks to the staff of this ward. I was coughed up from the bowels of death itself. You all have given me a new pair of lungs, not to breathe a sigh of relief, but to breathe the very breath of life once again. My journey began with the very able help of the ambulance attendants, who took me to the hospital and to the staff of the casualty department, thank you.

Dr Candice Solomon, Dr Chandra Deepak, Dr Shoker Tatipatie and Dr Bhagwandass of Ward 11: Hats off to you all. Special thanks to the following: Nurse Carol Roberts, Sandra Alleyne, Veronica Watts, Deomatie Gosine, Ameeda Hasmat, Simpson of Ward 12, the management and staff of Victoria Nursing Home, V’s Rest Home, Dr A Chatoorgoon, Dr Charlie Bridgelal, Dr S Perot, Dr A De, Dr Kantar Ramcharan, Dr Foon, the X-Ray Department, the very pretty lady in the ECG Department. The PCA on Ward 11, the kitchen staff, Ms Gemma Wallace from the Blood Bank (for all the cold water and ice, which helped to quench my thirst).

Also to Dr and Mrs Cox, Dr B Sieunarine, Dr S Pooransingh, Mrs Eileen — Nursingh Tutor, Mrs Sylvia Stapleton Duncan, and all those who visited me, I thank you all very much. Also Dr R Ramkissoon Chen and Dr I Perot. Thanks for your care, prayers, help and even tears. You are all truly Florence Nightingales and may Jehovah truly bless each and every one of you. Again special thanks. I would like the Minister of Health to please listen to the cry of the doctors, nurses and other staff at the hospitals. Yes it is my turn today, but it could be yours or whose will it be tomorrow? We all may one day need the help of the staff at a hospital. It’s really only when one gets sick that we truly appreciate these wonderful people.
