Carlos Edwards may play soon

CARDIFF: Highly rated Trinidad and Tobago international Carlos Edwards is expected back in action soon for turmoil-filled Wrexham, after a long lay off due to injury.  The 26-year-old winger, who signed on at Wrexham in 2001, damaged knee ligaments during the summer and was ruled out of action for the cash-strapped Welsh club until the New Year.  However, under-pressure manager Denis Smith said that Edwards’ recuperation was progressing well, and noted he was eagerly anticipated his return to the first team.

“Carlos is flying in training at the moment, which is frustrating because the specialist will not allow him any physical contact until January,” Smith said on the club’s website.  He added: “So we have to wait until then but he is looking good.” Edwards, one of three Trinidad and Tobago internationals at the English League One club, is a tricky winger who can play on either flank. He announced himself as one of the club’s most consistent players with a series of performances that highlighted his true class. Struggling Wrexham have been relegated to one from the bottom of the table after suffering a 10-point deduction because of having to go into administration earlier this month.
