Arts And Lovers continues to look good

ARTS AND LOVERS continues to show up well on the gallops course as she prepares for her final juvenile battle against the fillies in the Guardian Life St Ann’s Stakes on Boxing Day. The Harold Chadee-owned and trained filly who has scored four wins from five outings, and would be a likely “Horse Of The Year” candidate should she score in  the Grade Two extended sprint, posted a comfortable 1:06.59 seconds for her 1000 metres spin together with Mandela yesterday. The daughter of Gilgamesh/Sizzling was asked to lead her older stablemate, who scored a surprise victory against the Starter Allowance group earlier this month, and she acquitted herself well to hold the advantage at the end of the gallop. Flying Millie a likely opponent to Arts And Lovers in the 1350 metres classic for fillies paced ov er the same route in 1:12.24 seconds.

This Jack Debideen-trained Jamaican-bred filly which finished runner-up to Arts And Lovers on her debut and again filled the bridesmaid position behind Lil Maniram My Boy was only asked to increase her pace midway up the stretch and carried her run past the bends before being eased. Lord Arazi who will represent the in-form stable of Glenn Mendez in the Guardian Life St James Stakes, also showed some zip in his gallop. The Barbadian-bred colt worked over 1000 metres and maintained a  steadly clip throughout the solo spin to stop the clock in 1:06.15 seconds. Saint Valentine who is set to face baptism in the colts and geldings divisions continued to do leg work. This Angel Of My Dreams offspring had stablemate Romantic Dancing for company over 1200 metres in 1:29.97 seconds. The Nightman was another to shape well. Last year’s Yearling Sales-topper showed he is going the right way by holding on well to older stablemate Piece Of Cake over 800 metres in 54.76 seconds.
