Chamber concerned over upsurge in kidnappings

The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce yesterday expressed extreme sadness over the murder of 16-year-old Stellon Davis, the Petit Valley teenager whose body was found Wednesday night in a shallow grave. A release from the Chamber reiterated its many calls for immediate and drastic action to address the escalating increase of violent offences against people.

The Chamber stated its calls have met with little success while the service and the response time of the police front office operations have been inconsistent and sometimes absent. The Chamber also noted the steady increase in murders over the years. The recent hiatus in kidnappings had appeased the country for a while, but now, according to the TT Chamber, it is evident that a successful strategy still eludes law enforcement agencies and allows fear to continue to stalk the land.
