MURDERED BABY KIMBERLY LAID TO REST
“CHILDREN SHOULD never be exposed to the danger of aggrieved persons in society.” So said Deacon Rodney Browne yesterday at the funeral service of Kimberly Boyke, who was beaten to death with a blunt object at her Prizgar Lands, Laventille home. The one-month-old baby was laid to rest in a small white coffin with a small gathering of family and friends celebrating her life at Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Port-of-Spain.
Boyke’s 17-year-old mother, Ginelle De Roche, cried openly as her mother, Elizabeth Lawrence dedicated the song, “One Life to Live,” for her daughter and baby Kimberly. Lawrence who delivered the eulogy, said she wished Kimberly had lived long enough to open her eyes. “The little time I knew her, she was an ‘angel’ in disguise. I only wish she was able to see the world she was brought into,” said Lawrence. Browne described the incident as an “act of cruelty” and wondered what could have been the root cause of her death. Baby Kimberly was later buried at the Mucurapo Cemetery.
