Saith: Baboolal was right

Public Administration Minister Dr Lenny Saith yesterday said that Senate President Dr Linda Baboolal was “absolutely right” to vote against the Government on the procedural issue of whether to debate the Caricom Community (Removal of Restrictions) Bill last Tuesday. Speaking at a post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall yesterday, Saith said Government had no problem with the way Baboolal voted. He said in the event of a tie, the Senate President has to make sure that the status quo is maintained. He added that in this case, that meant there was no bill to debate, “so she was absolutely right to vote the way she did.”
