Saith: Court ruled against SASC, not PM
As far as Public Administration Minister, Dr Lenny Saith, is concerned, the court ruled against the Statutory Authorities Service Commission, (SASC) not Prime Minister Patrick Manning. “What the judge said was that they (the SASC) should not have asked the Prime Minister (for his permission to appoint Devant Maharaj as deputy director of the NLCB,)” Saith said yesterday.
He added that Justice Mira Dean-Armorer did not say whether the Prime Minister’s opinion was wrong or right. He was responding to questions at a post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall on whether he felt uncomfortable as Public Administration Minister that a court had ruled against the Government in a matter involving the Prime Minister.
