Fuad calls for crackdown on pirates
MP for San Juan/Barataria Dr Fuad Khan has called on the Copyright Organisation to crackdown “mercilessly” on music pirates. In a release yesterday, Khan also called on the national community to boycott all pirated CD’s “in the name of Onika,” who died on Sunday. “Onika was rushing from pillar to post to make a living from what she enjoyed most, providing entertainment and bringing joy to the lives of many,” he said, “however it was not enough that she spent hours in the recording studio and thousands of dollars producing a CD,” he added.
“Due to the thriving pirate market for local music, Onika was forced to make a living by scheduling several performances on any given night.” Khan offered condolences to the family and friends of Bostic, adding, “Let us not let Onika’s death be in vain. Let us begin this campaign with vigilance and fortitude.”
