Accused doctor gets early Christmas present
ANAMIKA NARAYNSINGH yesterday walked into the cellblock of the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court and visited her father — murder accused Prof Vijay Naraynsingh. Since tomorrow is Christmas Day and Anamika’s next opportunity to see her father is next week Wednesday, attorneys accompanied the 15-year-old into the cellblock area for a half-hour chat with her father. Accompanied by attorneys Prakash Ramadhar and Chaitram Sinanan, Anamika spoke jovially to Naraynsingh in the cellblock where he was being kept.
Yesterday was the fourth day’s hearing of the preliminary inquiry into the murder of her mother, Dr Chandra Naraynsingh. Anamika has been staying in Valsayn at the home of her father’s brother, Dr Arune Naraynsingh, since the arrest of her father earlier this month. Her step-mother, Seeromanie, is also charged with the June 29, 1994 killing of her mother, Chandra. Sources told Newsday that Anamika was handling the arrests of her father and step-mother well, and is very supportive of the accused couple. Newsday was informed that Anamika and Prof Naraynsingh were also keeping in regular contact with each other by mail, exchanging letters a few times a week. Naraynsingh and Seeromanie are being kept at Golden Grove, Arouca.
