Technical officials get chance at NAAA meet
TECHNICAL officials wishing to officiate at next year’s CARIFTA Games in sister island Tobago, will get a chance to sharpen up when the National Amateur Athletic Association stage their first development meeting on Sunday. The action takes place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium beginning at 1 pm, with a series of track and field events. This meet is being staged at the stadium because it is the only one capable of facilitating field events. Listed to be contested are 300 metres events for both under-15 and under-17 boys and girls, women and men open. And there will also be 60 metres sprints for under-13, under-15, under-17 girls and boys, women and men.
The under-11, under-13, under-17 girls and boys, women and men will tackle the 150 metres distance, while the 600 metres is open to women and men. There will also be 4x200 metres relays for under-13, under-15, under-17 girls and boys, women and men. The NAAA also framed medley relays (200, 400, 600 1000) for the open category. Athletes will also vie with each other for top honours in javelin, discus, shot putt, long jump, high jump, triple jump and pole vault, which will be contested concurrently with track events.
