Hampton Games May 7, 8

THIS year’s Hampton International Games will be staged at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo once again, on May 7 and 8. Hampton Athletic Club president Rawle Raphael made the announcement yesterday. The 31st edition of the  games which will also mark the 50th anniversary of the club will be launched on March 19 with a fun walk from opposite Whitehall, St Clair to Long Circular Mall, St James, starting 4.30 pm. Elimination heats will be staged at the games venue on April 9 and 10 from 9 am.

And there will be a luncheon and awards function on April 24 from 11 am. Following this will be the Hampton road relays around the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain on April 30 from 4 pm. Caribbean and other athletes will face elimination heats on May 6 from 2 pm. The first Games Day will be on May 7 beginning 1.30 pm, but there will be performances by soca artistes between 5.20 pm and 6.15 pm. Games Day two will also begin at 1.30 pm, and there will also be soca performances between the same times.
