Petrotrin worker killed in accident
A CASUAL employee of State-owned Petrotrin, working on an onshore oil rig in Palo Seco, has died as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. Petrotrin stated in a release yesterday that Derrickman Kevin Reid was injured during what the company described as “routine operations.”
The nature of the accident was not disclosed, but the release stated that when it occurred, Reid was taken to Petrotrin’s medical centre in Point Fortin where he was attended to by senior doctors and transferred by ambulance to the San Fernando General Hospital. Reid had been in the hospital’s intensive care unit until he died around mid-afternoon yesterday. Acting Corporate Communications Manager, Rudolph Thomas, said Petrotrin had launched an investigation into the incident. The company would also assist the bereaved family, he said, with funeral expenses.
