Mr Manning blaming everyone but himself

THE EDITOR: The Prime Minister goes on the air to state that this country is not ready to face a national disaster. Well I have news for him; the country is not even prepared to handle normal everyday flooding and routine health issues. Let us start with the hospitals. Our medical facilities are so way behind that one shudders to think of what would happen should a national crisis arise. Why do we have to wait for a national emergency to fix the hospitals? Many months ago Mr Manning declared that he had appointed a commission of enquiry to investigate the gross shortcomings in the health sector, reasons for the number of deaths at Mt Hope etc. To date members of the population have not heard a single word on this. The usual PNM inefficiency.

This seemingly does not bother Mr Manning since he can just make a quick hop over to Cuba to meet his own health needs. It is ironic that a poor country like Cuba has superior health institutions, when compared to Trinidad, a rich oil and gas country where the Prime Minister can declare: “What Tobago wants Tobago gets.” Well, Mr Manning, for a start Tobago wants a first class state of the art hospital and a first-class airport, both of which were promised and not delivered. They also want better representation in Tobago and not leadership in the THA from an individual who runs to you for clearance on every minor issue.

Further, on the health related matter, Mrs Petronella Manning-Alleyne (Mr Manning’s sister) has informed the public that the neo natal ward at the PoS General Hospital is in a sad state, with a lack of the vital equipment needed to assist its infant patients. As usual, Mr Rahael blames everyone except himself, mutters something about problems with tenders and promises as usual to “look into it.” Mrs Alleyne went further to reveal shoddy and indeed the questionable tendering and hiring process by the NWRHA, which warrants further investigation.
In the midst of this dilemma, to add insult to injury, an official of the NWRHA has the audacity to say that this information should not have been given to the media by Mrs Alleyne.

Isn’t that typical of the PNM mentality to try to keep the public poor and ignorant. Notwithstanding our country’s lack of facilities, the Prime Minister however, feels compelled to parade himself up and down the islands to meet with his political colleagues. He discusses their country’s ailments and digs into the TT coffers to remedy their situations all in his quest to become the Almighty Patrick, Lord and Master of all he surveys. Dell/Marvel Comics should add his name to the list of super heroes along with Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Green Lantern etc. Well, Mr Manning needs to parade himself up and down Trinidad and Tobago. Visit the hospitals, talk with the flood victims in Caparo, and visit the relatives of those kidnapped, robbed or killed by criminals. Seek the interest of Trinidad and Tobago nationals.
