The best year ever?

THE EDITOR: Consider the following: The store owners in San Fernando, Chaguanas and Port-of-Spain complained of the poor sales this year when compared to previous years. Frederick Street was seemingly deserted on Christmas Eve for the first time since I can remember. The number of murders was off the chart at 260 and the number of other crimes were too much to keep track.

Vijay is still missing and the kidnapping had the nation terrified. The tsunami killed hundred of thousands in Asia. Everyone was saying that they could not wait to get 2004 behind them and look forward to better things in 2005. Our honourable Prime Minister says that Christmas and 2004 was the best year ever. I rest my case.
