Bumpy ride to Tortuga
THE EDITOR: I have resently started to use the road in the Central Range to the village of Tortuga for the past two months on a daily basis. The roads in this district are extremely bad due to neglect over the years. When I travel on those roads leading to Tortuga, the stress and wear and tear on my vehicle and myself are overwhelming. I sympathise with the people of Tortuga and surrounding districts. The road from the Forrest Park Flyover has for the past couple of months been resurfaced.
On days when it is dry, it is dust in your face, and when rain falls it is mud you have to pass through, plus heaps of garbage all along the sides of the road. There is also about halfway along the road this big rubbish dump. The scent stinks to the heavens. There are two other roads I know of leading to Tortuga. They are in real bad condition and they both have massive landslides. I really think motorists who use these roads out of necessity should be compensated by the Government, may I suggest when the country has funds and human labour to disburse. Let’s start right at home in the Central Range of Tortuga and environs.
