Registrar General don’t sign deeds
THE EDITOR: We would like to respond to a letter to the Editor published on Friday January 14, 2005 entitled “Who’ll sign my Deed?” The Registrar General’s Department is committed to increasing its efficiency and effectiveness in keeping with Government’s thrust for developed-country status by the year 2020, and as a result we take this opportunity to address some of the concerns highlighted by the writer of the letter.
Mr Glen Jonas stated that, for two years, he has been awaiting a signature on a deed for a transaction to take place. We would like to inform the public that contrary to what was stated in the letter neither the Registrar General nor any of her Registrars sign deeds. Furthermore, checks among the records have revealed no records in the name of Glen Jonas. We would like to suggest that the writer of the letter provide the Registrar General with the receipt evidencing the lodgment of the document so that the relevant department within the Ministry of Legal Affairs at Registration House could address his concern. We welcome every opportunity to be of service to the public.
