Bakr trial continues

The trial of Jamaat-al Muslimeen leader Imam Yasin Abu Bakr continues today at the Port-of-Spain Assizes, where one of the State’s main witnesses Brent “Small Brent” Danglade is expected to give evidence. Bakr, 63, is before Justice Mark Mohammed at the Third Criminal Court charged with conspiracy to murder two former members of the Jamaat.

It is alleged that on June 4, 2003 at Citrine Drive, Diamond Vale, Diego Martin  Bakr conspired with others, to kill expelled members Zaki Aubaidah and Salim Rasheed. Bakr is being represented by attorneys Pamela Elder SC and Owen Hinds Jr. Sir Timothy Cassel QC, DPP Geoffrey Henderson and State attorneys Wayne Rajbansie and George Busby are representing the State.
