May NBN tears fall on Govt
THE EDITOR: What is to become of this present regime when so much tears are being shed for their uncaring motives when they continue to destroy this country of ours from time to time with their rash decisions? There could be seen on Sunday January 16, 2005 Edition of the Newsday the people who enjoyed their job at the National Broadcasting Network (NBN) in tears with the realisation of the company being closed. They worked for years together like a family, hence the reason for all the tears. I do not think it was so much of the job, but because of the love and camaraderie that existed between the workers at that industry.
It is really sad to see that after all these years their togetherness was just snuffed away like the sudden death of a great friend. This was done so unjustly creating so much grief in their hearts, and leaving them dumbfounded. These workers made a great contribution as far as broadcasting is concerned. Maybe they did not contribute to the whims and fancy of certain people, and possibly why the industry was shut down with such haste whereby hurting so many dedicated media personnel of that company. People’s tears and hurting a person’s heart could go a long way to the destruction of other people’s welfare. The people of Caroni 1975 were the first to shed tears when that industry was shut down leaving people on the breadline with their families to suffer.
This same fate has befallen the workers at the National Broadcasting Network (NBN). It is hard to understand how some people could be so inhumane and unmoved while not thinking about other people’s livelihood as long as their position is secured. If this present regime continues like this there would be no progress. Since I was small I always heard the older folks say that it is bad to let people’s tears fall on you because it is a bad omen. I only hope that the tears of the Caroni workers and those of the National Broadcasting Network (NBN) would not fall on the people of Trinidad, but only on those who are responsible for the present situation that has created so much sadness for the people of these two institutions. Who is next is left to be seen.
