NACTA AND THE PNM FEAR PANDAY
The Editor: The PNM and the Nacta propagandist fear Panday so they continue with their speculation while trying to influence the UNC supporters, but that is a hard nut to crack. Polls will not influence strong UNC supporters in reversing their decision. They have said repeatedly that they do not want the “Silver Fox” to resign, and to be led by anyone else at this time. On the Newsday Sunday 23 January, 2005, Nacta reports that Panday would be doing his supporters a great service if he were to exit the political scene. That is what the PNM would like.
They say his departure would significantly improve the Opposition’s chances of capturing the Government at the next election, but that is what the PNM would like to accomplish with the resignation of Basdeo Panday making it easy for the present regime, while putting fear into the UNC supporters with the hope of continuing the social onslaught on this nation. The UNC have a proven track record of having performed while in governance, but quite unlike their counterparts who have done nothing to prove worthy of being in Government, since their stint for the past three years of non-performance, but only promises and rhetoric to stay in power.
The Nacta poll suggests that UNC supporters are sick of the party’s leadership, saying that they are convinced that the party cannot make a comeback to Government. I strongly challenge the leader of the Nacta polls to come here personally to the base of the UNC and interview its members, and hear for himself the support of the “Silver Fox,” Basdeo Panday as the only true leader of the UNC who the people would support all the way.
