‘Dwellers of the Nile’ win Couva Kiddies Carnival
NEW Dimensions’ “Dwellers of the Nile,” led by Herman Clarke of Pt Lisas Housing Settlement, Couva chipped their way to victory in the Couva Carnival Kiddies competition at Couva Car Park last Sunday. The event, which attracted eight bands was organised by the Couva Carnival Committee as part of a seven-day programme of activities which comprised the 2005 Carnival celebrations.
“Dwellers of the Nile” which comprised over 200 revellers in five sections, paraded on stage under bright lights and the effect of their authenticity, design and coordination of colour impressed the judges sufficiently for first place. In second place was Eccles Anglican School’s “Celebration Time (1993-2004)” led by Dexter Jennings, while third spot went to “Together Again — Come Dance With Me” and “Kids and Things,” took fourth position. Kiddies King went to Mark Harriot’s “Farrel’s Baseman From Hell,” from “Celebration Time — (1993-2004)” while Denesha Jennings who portrayed “Ambakaila Woman,” won the Kiddies Queen Crown.
