Dad, two sons in court for murder
A PRINCES Town father and two of his sons, of St Croix Road, Princes Town were remanded in custody by a magistrate yesterday, when they appeared in court charged with last Tuesday’s murder of fellow villager Clifton Alleyne, 48. Emmanuel Vincent, 59, and sons Brian, 38, and Sterling, 25, stood before Magistrate Jai Narine in the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court as the charge of murder was read to them.
They were not called on to plead as the charge was laid indictably. Alleyne, also of Mahogany Trace off St Croix Road, was stabbed to death around 8 pm. Attorney Richard Valere told the magistrate that all three accused were injured during the alleged incident. Valere said Brian received a stab wound to the back, while younger brother Sterling injuries to his face, ear and back. The injuries, the attorney indicated, were vital to the defence of the three accused.
The court’s police prosecutor, acting Sgt Zamsheed Mohammed, confirmed that the three accused did sustain injuries and had to be medically examined and treated. The matter was adjourned to February 21. The father and sons were arrested over the weekend after police investigations were conducted into Alleyne’s killing.
