Lopinot fire victim to be cremated
after a 10 am funeral service at her Lopinot home, fire victim Radha Ramsaran will be cremated at 1 pm at the Caroni Cremation Site in a sealed coffin. Autopsy results yesterday confirmed death due to burns and smoke inhalation. The results were handed to Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson, and instructions were given to charge a 36-year-old relative of the woman with her murder.
Police do not hold any hope for the relative to make it to court since he is warded at the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. The relative received first degrees burns to 90 percent of his upper body when Ramsaran was burnt. The woman was covered with tar and gasoline then set alight while sitting in the back of a car. Investigations revealed the dispute was over money owed by another relative. Cpl Baptiste is investigating. In an unrelated matter, police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the gruesome death of Roland Inniss and his three children Renna, Rennie and Raul, who were all burnt to death at their home on Duke Street, Port-of-Spain, last Sunday morning.
Although residents reported seeing four men running from the scene, police said their investigations are inconclusive and they have not rated the deaths as murder by arson. Andrea Inniss, the mother of the children, told Newsday that the funerals will take place next week. Autopsy results confirmed the deaths were due to smoke inhalation and burns.
