Jones pleased with dream start at Stoke

LONDON: Trinidad and Tobago International striker Kenwyne Jones said he was pleased with his performance after continuing his amazing run of goal-scoring form for new club Stoke City last weekend. In his first match of the one-month loan deal from Southampton, Jones scored the lone goal as Stoke upset the promotion-chasing Milwall 1-0, giving his side some vital points in the Championship. “It was my first time playing with the lads and we got an important win,” the 20-year old striker told the Daily Mirror. “I could have gotten a hat-trick but I will settle for the one.”

Jones joined Stoke on loan from Premiership Southampton after gaining precious little playing time in the first team there. However, while on-loan at Sheffield Wednesday over the Christmas period, he banged in seven goals in as many matches to inspire the League One side. On return to Southampton, he continued his form with the Reserves and his strike for Stoke on Saturday was his 11th in as many matches.
