TT triumph at Junior Pan Am hockey
HAVANA: Barbados surrendered a 3-0 lead as Cuba rallied to beat them 4-3 in the opening game on the sixth day of the 8th men’s Junior Pan-American Championship, at the Antonio Maceo stadium in Santiago de Las Vegas on Monday. There was also a loss for Jamaica who were beaten 3-0 by the United States while Trinidad and Tobago brought success for the English-speaking Caribbean with a 19-0 swamping of Venezuela. Trini-dad and Tobago demolished a young and inexperienced Venezuela side in the last match of the day to climb provisionally to the third place, but with one more match than Canada, who also have six points.
Wayne Legerton netted eight goals (2nd, 16th, 20th , 26th , 34th , 46th , 54th and 68th minutes) to lead TT while Kiel Murray added five (11th, 42nd, 43rd, 57th and 58th). Akim Toussaint scored twice (35th and 47th) while Alan Henderson (3rd), Joel Bodkin (5th) Ezekiel Cupid (28th), and Brent Graham, in the final minute, completed the rout for Trinidad and Tobago. Jamaica had earlier gone down to the United States in a boring lacklustre affair with Patrick Harris scoring twice (14th and 41st) and Sean Patrick scoring the other.
