Better technology needed
THE EDITOR: Firstly, I am grateful for NCC’s TV4 and 16 bringing live coverage of the Regional Carib Cup Cricket match between TT and Windward Islands from Guaracara Park last weekend. However, I was totally displeased with the quality of the telecast. Imagine live cricket coverage on TV without replays or slow motion or close-ups. Poor camera work; — catches, run-outs, boundaries, umpiring decisions without the viewers being able to see what actually happened!
It was as though you were watching a still movie (1940), with the cameras in one fixed position. It’s mind-boggling, in this age of technology after having just witnessed the VB Series from Australia with ‘Hawkeye’ and ‘Snickometer’ and replays at any speed. It was sickening to be subjected to such unprofessionalism. I must congratulate one of the commentators, Mr Aneil Rajah whose knowledge and insight of the game kept me aware of what was happening. As an avid cricket fan I look forward to the next match with some much needed improvements in the quality of the telecast.
